The Lane Rope Pendant is my interpretation of the form of the individual beads on a lane rope. Growing up as a competitive swimmer much of my life was spent in the water, training up to 17 hours a week at age 11, I always thought the ropes looked like beads on a necklace and wanted to recreate the form of one in an alternative style.
This piece is a part of the ‘Mnemosyne’ collection, named after the Greek Goddess of memory, this collection embodies lasting impressions of my past, capturing intangible memories within tangible forms. Mnemosyne is inspired by textures, shapes, and sensations from my childhood spent in Hong Kong. The work reinterprets familiar forms through abstract designs that embrace imperfection and tactile intimacy.
