The light show ring is inspired by a pillar of the Hong Kong skyline, constructed to allow light to pass through the center of the ring creating the intended effect of the building lit up in the dark. During my childhood in Hong Kong one of my favorite experiences was riding the ferry across the harbour, at night the buildings illuminate brightly, fighting for competition on the dense skyline, but this is the building that always stood out to me the most.
This piece is a part of the ‘Mnemosyne’ collection, named after the Greek Goddess of memory, this collection embodies lasting impressions of my past, capturing intangible memories within tangible forms. Mnemosyne is inspired by textures, shapes, and sensations from my childhood spent in Hong Kong. The work reinterprets familiar forms through abstract designs that embrace imperfection and tactile intimacy.
