The Coffee Table Pendant is informed by the structural form of the coffee table my family has had for over 30 years, an antique first acquired during their time spent in Indonesia in the 90s. The piece is also intended to function as a whistle, reminiscent of Typhoons experienced from the window of my childhood apartment, on the 12th floor of a skyscraper in Hong Kong.
This piece is a part of the ‘Mnemosyne’ collection, named after the Greek Goddess of memory, this collection embodies lasting impressions of my past, capturing intangible memories within tangible forms. Mnemosyne is inspired by textures, shapes, and sensations from my childhood spent in Hong Kong. The work reinterprets familiar forms through abstract designs that embrace imperfection and tactile intimacy.
